For
those going to HS Nationals in St. Louis, we will have a flight
coordination meeting on Sunday, Jan 13 at 3:00 pm at the MAC 1st floor
lounge area (overlooking workout area).
We intend to purchase
our flights during this Jan 13 session (see plan outlined below). We
expect that our fundraising will cover hotel/rental car/food as outlined
below. Players will need to pay for their own flight.
Following is current list of players planning to attend, and our plan
for the trip r.e. hotel, rental cars, food, other activities.
Lincoln Players: So far we have 13 players planning to attend:
Spencer Berger
Catherine Barton
Ian Blakely
Jordan Coleman
Danny Brillhart
Sierra Reid
Will Hoge
Elena Schaefer
Alex Kiriazis
Sam Moser
Clayton Ross
William Selbie
Gavin Usher
Please respond to this email ASAP if your name is not on the list but
you’d like to attend, or if your name is on the list and you can’t
attend.
Also, if your name is on the list above, please respond
to this email to let me know if you can attend our flight coordination
session on Jan 13 at 3 pm.
Flights: We plan to fly together;
however, we have found that going thru travel agent or airline’s group
sales results in a $700+ fare per person. So what we have been doing is
getting together to purchase our tickets via the internet. Last time,
we flew to St. Louis on Southwest Airlines, and flew back to Portland on
Delta, resulting in a $368 round trip ticket. This scenario worked
fine, although it does lend itself to more potential pitfalls if flights
change etc… IF THERE IS A PARENT ON THE TEAM WHO IS A WHIZ AT GROUP
FLIGHTS, AND YOU THINK YOU CAN GET US TICKETS IN THE $370 RANGE, PLEASE
LET ME KNOW, I’M ALL EARS !
Hotel: Marriott TownePlace Suites,
1662 Fenton Business Park Ct. · Fenton, MO 63026. We will have 2 or 3
suites; each suite has 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, living area w/ pullout
sofa, and a kitchen.
One suite will be for the girls (plus a
team mom), and one or two suites will be for boys (plus me and another
parent if we have 3 rooms). This hotel is located in between the two
clubs, and it is the same place we have stayed the past 2 times in St.
Louis.

Rental Car: We will have 2-3 minivans, depending on final number of
players. The minivans will be driven only by parents of players and/or
coaches.
Food: Tournament will have food at clubs for some
lunches and some dinners. We will do a team Costco run (always a fun
event) to get cereal, bread and sandwich makings, fruit, protein bars,
lots of water bottles, etc. We will also plan a team dinner on Saturday
night in downtown St. Louis.
Other Activities (players bring approx. $50 - $100 spending money):
· St. Louis Gateway Arch - This has also been a fun activity
the first two trips. There is a very small tram (like a pod) that takes
you up most of the way, then walk the last 100 feet or so. http://www.gatewayarch.com/
· Washington University in St. Louis – I will take whichever
kids that would like to visit this campus. My older son Dylan visited
this campus on our trip to St. Louis 4 years ago, and now he is a junior
there and loves it. Dylan plays baseball for WashU, so hopefully we
can also watch a game !
