League Match #3 - Results

Team-
Attached are the updated Boys, Girls and Team Rankings after League Match #3.
Special congratulations to the following players who improved their ranking by more than 5% between LM#2 and LM#3, which is tremendous!! I've listed players in order of highest % change in ranking:
Ryan Brady
Theo Leach
Catherine Barton
Nate Chock
Will Hoge
Stacey Abrams (Now the #10 ranked girl in Oregon HS !)
Rachel Wolfard
Jack Edwards
Clayton Ross
Also, note that the Lincoln Black team is in 4th place for the top League Match rankings, and Lincoln Gold is #10.  The top 8-10 teams will square off at the same venue (location TBD) for the Team Championship during LM#4 on 1/14/12.  Lincoln Black, and perhaps Lincoln Gold, will partipate in the team championship.
New Players – DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED IF YOU WENT BACKWARDS IN YOUR RANKINGS AFTER LM#3.  This is normal, part of the learning curve.  You are playing lots of new players, and you are still figuring out the gaem. With practice, you will improve.
Second year players and beyond – DO BE CONCERNED IF YOU WENT BACKWARDS IN YOUR RANKING. This means that you are not practicing enough, or not practicing with focus.  Talk to one of the coaches and we will help you with this.
The team standings have also been updated.  Lincoln’s Black (tied for 4th place) and Gold (10th place) teams are among the leaders out of 42 teams.  Go Cards!

League Match #3 - Saturday December 17th

Here are the club locations and times for this Saturday's December 17 League Match #3.  Attached is the complete schedule, and list of players on each team, in case you've forgotten which team you are on.  Players need to show up at the times listed, so coaches can get you checked in at the tournament desk.
Although most clubs have a snack bar, I encourage players to bring some health snacks such as protein bars.  Also would be good to bring water.
There is also some downtime between matches, so there is opportunity to get some homework or reading in.
How does the league match work?  First, all boys singles and girls singles matches are played.  This will take approx. 3 - 3.5 hours, then boys doubles, girls doubles, and mixed doubles play will take place.  Each team can only have one boys doubles, one girls doubles, and one mixed doubles team (so we usually take turns on each team so that everyone gets a chance to play doubles).  Doubles takes about 1.5 hours depending on the site.
Please make arrangements with friends / teammates on your team, to coordinate carpooling to/from the match.  If you have problems finding a ride, let me know and I'll help connect you with someone.

New Players and Families - First Match Preparation

New Players and Families-

Attached file is an overview of how the League Matches generally take place during the day.   We do all the boys & girls singles first, then the boys/girls/mixed doubles.  Not all players will play doubles.  Players that don’t play doubles can leave after singles play is complete.

Other info:
  • Shirts for new players are on order; we should have these ready for League Match #2.
  • For returning players, wear your Lincoln shirts.  For new players, wear any Lincoln T-Shirt if you have one.
  • Wear same type of clothing you wear to practice.
  • Bring some healthy snacks and a water bottle to the match
  • Bring some reading or homework if needed, to do between matches
  • Please be respectful of the club and its’ employees; without the clubs and their support, we wouldn’t have a league !
  • Remember the matches are self–reffed games to 11… say the score loudly and clearly before each serve !
  • Shake your opponent’s hand after each match
  • No profanity, no banging racquet against the wall or floor… be respectful !
  • HAVE FUN !!!!!

Final Team Rosters - View team pages

I am hoping that the attached Team Roster is FINAL.  I have made adjustments per some specific requests.  At this point, you will have to have a very convincing argument for me to change the roster, as I am submitting these to the league.
The first League Match is Saturday, Novermber 19.  Please make sure you have this date on your calendar.  Please block out approx. 10 am - 5 pm on your calendar.  Locations of your league match and start times will be posted by Tuesday, Nov 15.

Parent Volunteers Needed

Please let me know if you can help Lincoln Racquetball by being a volunteer Assistant Site Director during 2 or 3 League Matches.  This role involves working with each school's coach to check in players prior to a match, entering match results into the site computer, and printing/posting upcoming matches on each court.  Commitment is approx. 5 hours on a Saturday.  Ideally, I'm looking for people that can commit to 2 or 3 Saturdays (Nov 17, Dec 3, Dec 17, Jan 14).
We are having a Site Director/Assistant Site Director Training session on Saturday, Nov. 5 at Ed Boyle's office at Ankrom Moisan Architects at 6720 SW Macadam Ave.  Specific time will follow.
Please let me know if you can help us as an Asst Site Director this year.  It's fun, and it's set up so you can also watch your son/daughter play (which I know will excite your son/daughter :) ).
