Urgent - High School State Championship Information

Reminder- HS State Championships take place from Wed Jan 26 thru Sunday Jan 30.  Matches are scheduled after 5 pm on Wednesday and Thursday, and all day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

However, as has been the case in past years, the tournament takes place during Lincoln’s finals week (same for Beaverton).  But each year I coordinate with the Tournament Director, so that we schedule around our finals.  My expectation is that each player on the Lincoln HS Racquetball team will participate in this tournament; this tournament is the peak of our season, and for most of you, the season is done after this tournament.

This year, because our team is so large, we need to have players available to play one match on Wednesday evening (sometime between 5-8 pm), and one match on Thursday evening (sometime between 4-8 pm).  I ask that each player consider their finals schedule, and coordinate their study plans to allow for play for one match Wednesday and Thursday nights.  Also, I need to know which players have finals on Friday, so we can coordinate that as well.

Summary-  I need each player to e-mail their response to me by 8 pm Wednesday, January 12 to the following questions:

1.      Will you be playing in the tournament?
2.      Can you play one match on Wed and Thurs nights?
3.      What time are you done with finals on Friday?

We need a parent volunteer to represent the White team during the matches.  Scott will rotate to MAC and YMCA so that he can see each of the players play as much as possible.   The parent volunteer helps check in Lincoln players, and to just be present during the matches (don't worry you don't need to coach).  Please reply to this message if you can volunteer as parent rep for the White team on Saturday.

Keep in mind that the League Match lasts 4-5 hours.  Each player will play singles, and each team will have 1 Boys Doubles team, 1 Girls Doubles team, and 1 Mixed Doubles team.  So some players will only play singles.  All boys and girls singles matches will be played, then doubles matches will take place.  Each player will play 5-7 matches on Saturday.  I recommend bringing a power bar or similar, even though most clubs have snacks / food available for purchase.

More info to follow.

Match/Practice Notes - Week of January 9, 2011

Just a reminder that we have only 4 weeks left in the Lincoln RB season (except for those going to St. Louis).  Here are the remaining matches:
League Match #4 (Sat Jan 15) will be the final league match of the year before the State Championships (Thurs Jan 27 thru Sunday Jan 30.)  This is the high point and culmination of our season, and will be held at MAC and Beaverton YMCA.   This tourney actually starts Wed night, but I have arranged for our team to begin playing matches Thursday after school, since we have finals that week.  Players need to be prepared to play matches Thursday night, all day Friday and Saturday, and hopefully Sunday if you're still in the tournament.
We expect all Lincoln RB players to participate in the HS State Championships.
Please realize that with only 3 weeks until State Championships, it is extremely important that all players participate in remaining practices.  We will have practice this Sunday Jan 9 from 5-7 pm (except for players participating in this weekend's OJRA tourney).  There will be no practice on Monday, as we should all be busy rooting the Oregon Ducks to victory in the National Championship game !  We will have practice on Tuesday.
